The opening ceremonies held at Wembly Stadium in London are set to make one of the most impressive Olympic Openings in years, with full effects in place to transform the arena into a depiction of the English countryside. Athletes will be led into the stadium by Kingston’s, Simon Whitfield, who won the gold medal for triathlon in the 2000 summer games. The ceremonies are set to start at 9pm local London Time, or 4pm eastern standard.

The sailing doesn’t kickoff until Sunday July 29th, although the Stars and Finns are sailing a practice race Saturday. Medal races begin Sunday August 5th with Stars and Finn’s first to claim some hardware. The weather looks promising from a wind perspective although not as pleasant, as the rain is returning with the wind. Head coach for Canada Ken Dool, “Team Canada is in good form; measurement has been completed for the Finn with the Star next up on the docket Thursday morning. The final preparations of boats and bodies is all looking good, everyone is healthy and in good form. The majority of the athletes have completed their heavy lifting (preparation) and are in the final stages of tidying up loose ends. Our squad with the exception of the Star team, Finn team and support staff, are all heading up to London to take in the Opening Ceremonies on Friday night which is bound to be a colossal performance.”
